The Veterans Housing Institute assists and provides housing to homeless and low income military veterans and their families, while strengthening the neighborhoods and communities in which they live. Through the acquisition of occupied, blighted, abandoned and donated properties, the program will transform these buildings using sustainable design techniques and building methods into housing that will improve the quality of living for homeless and low income military veterans and their families.
Through the use of foundation owned units and strategic partners, the program provides transitional housing for homeless veterans and offers them the support to overcome their current situation.
Through acquired, occupied, and donated properties, the program will place these buildings into a Housing Trust for the benefit of low income veterans and their families. This may include single and multi-family housing; and may include homes to be owned or rented.
